Personality:
Miri is definitely not the girly girl type. Though she can be very kind, charming, and a fiercely loyal friend, upon first meeting she can be rather gruff and rough around the edges. She will never be the one you want to turn to when you need some compliments to make yourself feel better. She'll tell you how it is, whether you like it or not. She doesn't have much patience or tolerance for drama or indecisiveness. Most of the time, Miri is very calm and laid-back. She's not a talker, and actively avoids forced, idle chit-chat. This is why it can be surprising to many when she loses her temper and blows a fuse seeming out of nowhere. To those who don't know her, she can seem very aloof and stand-offish. Even downright bitchy. But she is honest, witty, and endlessly resourceful. She is worth befriending, for those who honestly need a true friend and don't have ulterior motives.

History:
Fa Mulan was raised in ancient, rural China by her father ( a retired soldier), her mother and grandmother. By the time she reached her late teens, she was expected to bring honor to her family by being matched with an honorable man to start her own family. At around the same time, China once again came under threat from the nomadic Mongols, the Huns. Her father was drafted to return to battle for China, but Mulan knew he was in no condition to continue. And that is why, during the night, she stole her father's armour and took off to report for battle in his place, under the guise of a man. She joined Shang Li's army and began to train with them, proving herself to be a worthy soldier in the fight to defend China.
In Rock Castle, Miri Wu was raised by her parents and grandmother who immigrated from China. They gave her an anglicized name to help her fit in and hoped to raise her with traditional Chinese values. However, Miri proved to be a very strong-willed child. Her parents had been quite young when they immigrated and her father joined the US Army very soon after gaining citizenship. He was deployed often while she was growing up, and Miri spent much of her childhood missing him and causing grief for her mother. She was never interested in learning how to be a housewife. She didn't care about wearing dresses, or playing with dolls. It all became even more upsetting as she grew older and still did not change. She was closest with her grandmother, who found it all rather amusing, but it made the household quite stressful and tense all around.
As she grew older, Miri took on the responsibilities of taking care of their home and their pets and her grandmother as well. She continued to excel in school, but showed no interest in pursuing a "more feminine" career or finding a husband. When she graduated from high school, she immediately enrolled in RCU and joined the ROTC, with intentions of going into the military upon graduation, against her family's wishes. She is now in her final year at RCU, and at first felt like everything was going to be alright with the world. She new what she wanted and she was going to achieve whatever she set her mind to. But that's when the visions began. Visions of riding into battle in the snow-covered mountains of northern China. She had never even been there, but the visions were so vivid. So real.
Sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, feeling her head and arms in shock at the lack of armour before remembering where she is. It has started to become more and more agitating as the visions increase and disturbs her sleep. She has taken to drinking a little more than usual lately in an effort to drown them out, to no avail.
